Overview
The Chitradurga Fort Tour takes you deep into one of India’s greatest feats of military architecture. Located about 200 km north of Bangalore, this colossal hill fort dates back to the 17th–18th centuries and spans an astonishing 1,500 acres, with fort walls stretching nearly 8 km.
Built and expanded over centuries by the Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Hoysalas, Nayakas, Vijayanagara rulers, and later Hyder Ali, Chitradurga Fort represents layered history carved into stone. Designed to withstand prolonged sieges, the fort features multiple defensive rings, hidden escape routes, water reservoirs, and an ingenious rainwater harvesting system that ensured the fort never ran dry.
Beyond engineering brilliance, the fort is remembered for the legendary bravery of Onake Obavva, an ordinary woman whose extraordinary courage saved the fort during an enemy invasion.
This guided private tour blends history, legend, architecture, and adventure, offering a deeply immersive experience into Karnataka’s warrior past.
